EKA Duo

80.0

My favourite hunting knife for gutting/skinning deer or moose and of course also for fish!

Perhaps I’m odd but I prefer the long and slim blade of the EKA Duo in normal hunting situations, even though the blade looks like a fillet knife for fish only. Looks aside, the long slim blade is stiffer and stronger then the specialized fillet knives for fish only and the upside of this blade type is that it is super easy to sharpen and quickly gets a scary sharp edge. Also the length of the blade combined with the slim profile makes it easy to reach and follow the pelvic opening , something that is often a hassle with traditional hunting knives that tend do have blades only for skinning . The gut opener blade is also quite long with a more open curvature as compared with the Swingblade (Swedblade G4) and thus also much easier to sharpen simply because you can follow the curvature better.

The Duo is of course a compromise, as all knives are, but it works very well for me since I also always have the Classic 8 Titanium handy for all tasks not hunting related.

Should I be forced to choose only one knife to bring for hunts, well then I’d goth with the Swedblade G4.
